Next-round outlook (indicative, not advice)

This outlook simply extends the momentum of recent rounds with a band around it. COE premiums move on quota changes, dealer bidding behaviour, launches and sentiment — none of which a trend line can see. Treat it as a conversation starter, not a prediction. Guaranteed-COE packages sidestep this uncertainty entirely — ask me how those work.

Timing your purchase around COE?

Common questions

Which category does my car fall under?

Cat A covers non-fully-electric cars up to 1,600cc and 97kW (130bhp), and EVs up to 110kW. Cat B covers everything above those thresholds. Cat E is open category — usable for any vehicle type and typically tracking slightly above Cat B.

What is PQP?

The Prevailing Quota Premium is the 3-month moving average of winning premiums, and it's what you pay to renew an existing COE instead of bidding. When premiums are climbing, PQP lags below the latest results; when they fall, PQP lags above.

Should I wait for prices to drop?

Sometimes — but waiting has a cost too: your current car keeps depreciating, and quota shifts can move against you. The honest answer depends on your car, your COE runway and the quota cycle. That's a 10-minute conversation, not a rule of thumb.
